Dan and Rebecca first were involved in missions as they led a team to Slovakia from their home church to teach a one-week English camp for middle and high school students. They were immediately drawn to the people and saw the urgent need for long-term workers. They are currently involved in mentoring and discipling leaders in Trnava.

Since the fall of communism a decade ago, spiritually speaking, there have been two lasting results. First, communism destroyed the church for two generations. The current generation in Slovakia does not know God and therefore is not teaching the next about Him. Secondly, the current trend of relativism in their society is a reaction to communism's mandate that there is only one way, "the way of the party." This one way or the highway has led to a hesitancy to tell others there is only one way to live.
