Local Missions Team

Our Premise: Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah the kingdom of God has broken into this world and is bringing about renewal both individually and socially. It is the church’s mission to embody this renewal and extend it into every area of life.

Our Vision: To be agents of God’s renewal in Suffolk and the surrounding area.

Our Mission: We are to search out creative ways to involve Westminster in bringing renewal by means of  personal conversion and social shalom.

1) We currently support the following ministries:

1)      Keim Center (Crisis Pregnancy Center)

2)      Evangelism Explosion

3)      Southeast Correctional Ministry

4)      Suffolk Homeless Shelter (now called “For Kids”—work with women and children)

5)   Young Life of Western Tidewater

2) We have researched and discussed three additional local ministries with whom we would like to partner:

1)      Genieve Shelter—battered women and children

2)      Free Health Clinic

3)      Salvation Army

3) We have had representatives from the following new ministries make presentations to our committee:

1)       Free Health Clinic

2)      Salvation Army

4)   We also plan to discuss the use of an evangelistic bible study curriculum called “Exploring Christianity”.

                  One of our members has already used it in his neighborhood.
